Construction commences on iconic $77 million project

Leading Gold Coast construction firm CONDEV Construction has been appointed to deliver one of the city’s most iconic, in-demand new residential developments – the $77 million Natura project at Burleigh Heads.

CONDEV will commence construction on the project next month with a major demolition of an existing nine-level apartment on the site, making Natura one of only a few residential towers on the Gold Coast to be constructed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Natura’s construction comes admits a $1 billion plus development boom sweeping through Burleigh Heads, something which is transforming the suburb into one of Australia’s premier beachfront addresses.

Research compiled on behalf of CBRE Gold Coast reveals an estimated $500 million of this is coming from residential projects either proposed or underway.

The confidence to begin demolition and construction comes from the record high sales Natura achieved during its launch in March this year, where 25 of the project’s 33 luxury three-bedroom apartments sold on the day of launch, generating over $50 million for seasoned Brisbane based developer Spyre Group.

The high sales witnessed indicates Spyre Group have tapped into a strong local owner-occupier market, unwavering in their desire to reside in the Gold Coast beachfront suburb, and undeterred by the current COVID-19 situation.

“For us as builders it’s an absolute privilege to be involved in a project of such magnificent quality in the heart of the Gold Coast,” said Steve Marais, Managing Director of CONDEV, one of the Gold Coast’s most successful building companies.

“Natura really is one of those iconic properties which Spyre Group has perfected in terms of layout and luxury. Due to the company’s esteem and record of project delivery we have been wanting to work with them for many years now.”

“To be given the opportunity to work on Natura, from the project’s conception and feasibility right through to its construction, has our team very humbled and excited.

“We look forward to commencing the demolition phase next month with the view of starting the build later this year.”

CONDEV’s history, spanning 18 years, has seen the company deliver a range of high-end beachfront projects, including La Vie and Temple, two luxury apartments situated along The Esplanade at Palm Beach.

CONDEV is currently constructing the Magnoli Apartments at Palm Beach, a project by one of Queensland’s most respected development companies, Sunland Group, which in its 30-year history has delivered the internationally renowned Palazzo Versace and Q1 among a multi-billion portfolio of projects.

Kent Pinel, Design Manager of Spyre Group, noted CONDEV’s portfolio and commitment to quality across the luxury Gold Coast beachfront market made them a stand-out contender for Natura.

“CONDEV undoubtedly has the experience, skills and caliber required to successfully deliver a project of this standard. They have worked very closely with Spyre Group on the standards demanded of Natura and we look forward to seeing our vision begin to come to life next month,” said Mr Pinel.

With 80 percent of apartments at Natura selling off-the-plan on the day of launch, buyers are eagerly awaiting Natura’s completion, currently scheduled for occupancy at the start of 2022.

Mr Marais said the selection of the site and the materials makes Natura one of the most luxurious projects they have been involved with.

“Natura is unapologetically high-end focussed, and Spyre Group are delivering the project to a market that is craving this type of development, and the haste of sales reflects this.”

The project will rise 17 levels on a 1,011sqm site located at 112 The Esplanade in the heart of Burleigh Heads, located close to the suburb’s vibrant restaurant and lifestyle precinct and the Burleigh Heads National Park.

A 17-year-old, smaller apartment block, located where Natura will stand, will be taken down later this month to make way for the new development which will meet growing demand for residency along the Burleigh Heads beachfront strip.

The development of Natura comes off the back of Spyre Group’s debut Gold Coast project, the $79 million Elysian Broadbeach, now nearing completion, and the $25 million boutique Maya Kirra Beach which is due to be completed later this year.

Natura’s on-site display suite is open daily for private inspections.
