LEADING over 50s developer Halcyon has firmly underlined its green credentials by becoming the first developer in Queensland to achieve the full EnviroDevelopment certification in four consecutive developments.
The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) recognised Halcyon’s sustainable edge with a six-leaf EnviroDevelopment certification for its Halcyon Greens community at Pimpama on the Gold Coast, the newest lifestyle community.
Now the developer’s fourth six-leaf accreditation, Halcyon Greens has ticked the UDIA’s EnviroDevelopment boxes for ecosystems, waste, energy, materials, water and community, awarding the 500-home flagship community the certification just recently.
Halcyon is leading the enviro-sensitive development in the over 50s space as the only developer to achieve this certification in the seniors living category. Halcyon has also earned the highest certification for Halcyon Landing and Halcyon Lakeside at Bli Bli, and Halcyon Glades at Caboolture.
Halcyon joint managing director Bevan Geissmann said the company was delighted to receive the six-leaf accreditation.
“To receive a fourth certification in four years shows that we’re committed to delivering a quality product and want to ensure our communities leave a lighter footprint,” Dr Geissmann said.
“In addition to the positive legacy, the monetary saving associated with water and energy efficiency is of huge importance to Halcyon home owners. It’s pleasing to know that we’re doing everything today to save home owners money tomorrow.”
The Halcyon Greens EnviroDevelopment certification was made possible by a series of sustainability initiatives such as:
- Solar hot water systems and water efficient fixtures for homes
- 90 per cent of all planting is locally native species
- 90 per cent of waste recycled
- 3.5kW solar panels on every home
Halcyon dwellings also achieve one of the three levels of the Livable Housing Design Guidelines, which helps future proof homes and promote ageing in place with features such as wider hallways and seamless entry points.
Halcyon Greens residents will have free golf membership and benefits, as well as exclusive access to a new Country Club that forms part of the 2.5 hectares of lifestyle facilities.
These include a recreation club and lodge, cinema, gym and wellness centre, indoor and outdoor pools, floodlit tennis court and championship-sized bowling green.
Homes at Halcyon Greens are priced from $474,000.
