Business as usual at Sanctuary Cove during G20

It will be business as usual at Sanctuary Cove’s Marine Village during this weekend’s G20 Leaders’ Summit, with the area open to the public throughout the global forum on November 15 and 16.The only ‘restricted area’ on the Gold Coast will be the adjacent InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort where delegates are staying.Residents of Sanctuary Cove and visitors will experience very minimal delays accessing the community and its retail and dining hub The Marine Village, according to Mulpha Sanctuary Cove executive general manager Keith Allardice.Mr Allardice said while the InterContinental Resort had been declared a ‘restricted area’ from November 9-17, this would not impact other areas of Sanctuary Cove.“The message we are sending is that we are open for business,” Mr Allardice said.“Residents and visitors will be able to go about their daily lives, and businesses in The Marine Village will be open as usual.“There will be some land and road closures which will only impact access to the InterContinental Resort, and temporary road closures associated with motorcade movements in and out of Sanctuary Cove’s entry boulevard.“Extremely thorough planning on the part of Queensland Police Service will ensure the process runs smoothly and effectively for Sanctuary Cove residents, visitors and those involved in the G20 Summit.”Mr Allardice said representatives for delegates staying at the InterContinental had toured The Marine Village on a number of occasions and expressed interest in the shopping and dining facilities available.“The delegates will be free to shop and dine in their free time,” Mr Allardice said.Sanctuary Cove is a resort-style masterplanned community, featuring two 18-hole championship golf courses, a 300-berth marina, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort and Country Club including full fitness centre, tennis courts and 25m swimming pool.At the heart of the community is the Marine Village – Sanctuary Cove’s very own waterfront commercial, retail and dining precinct, with more than 80 tenancies.Mulpha’s ongoing investment in the multi award-winning marine and golf community sees Sanctuary Cove maintain its world-class status as one of Australia’s best lifestyle communities.
