High flying kiwis purchase $6m penthouse

Kiwi technology entrepreneur Nick Gordon is upsizing his Gold Coast holiday home with the $6 million purchase of the penthouse in the spectacular Northcliffe Residences project at Surfers Paradise.Mr Gordon and wife Andrea have bought the 600sqm two-level residence before sod is turned on the $111 million absolute beachfront development, which is poised to rise 26 levels at 3 Northcliffe Terrace. The couple will swap their three-bedroom sub-penthouse apartment in the nearby Artique Apartments for the exquisite four-bedroom residence topping Northcliffe Residences.Auckland-based Mr Gordon, who founded Australasian Zintel Group and is now retired, said the couple wanted to change up to a larger, absolute beachfront residence for their regular Gold Coast vacations.“We can walk out the door and immediately have the sand between our toes, which is wonderful when you’re escaping the NZ winter,” he said.“And the fact the penthouse has four bedrooms means we can invite more family and friends over to stay with us.”Mr Gordon said the residents-only policy at Northcliffe Residences was another drawcard.“We love the fact that there will be no holiday letting at Northcliffe Residences, as our current building does not have this exclusivity,” he said. The Gordons were able to collaborate with Northcliffe Residences’ developer CNQC, architect Cottee Parker and the engineer to tailor the penthouse to their needs.“We were able to push up the ceiling height to allow double height windows, include a spa pool on the rooftop terrace, and choose our own marble and fixtures,” Mr Gordon said. The penthouse’s expansive private rooftop entertaining terrace comes complete with enclosed living dining area, full kitchen, indoor barbecue, bathroom, outdoor lounge area, gas fire pit, 30sqm swimming pool and large heated spa.Inside, the penthouse offers sweeping ocean views from its open-plan living areas which have soaring 5m ceilings.A massive master suite has 3.5m ceilings and 180-degree views of the city.Other features include six bathrooms, three car spaces, butler’s pantry, large media room, study and a private lift lobby.Finishes and fixtures include natural stone, timber and European appliances and accessories.Northcliffe Residences’ project manager Graham Goldman, managing director of Eastview Australia, said the sale of the penthouse, reflecting $10,000/sqm, so early in the development process was very encouraging.“To have the buyers outlaying this kind of money without walking through the apartment or seeing the views gives us a great deal of confidence that Northcliffe Residences will be a great success and the off-the-plan apartment market remains strong,” he said.“Northcliffe Residences brings a new style of architecture to beachfront living.“We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure its exclusivity, which is unparalleled in the market place.”Northcliffe Residences will have 75 boutique one, two, threeand four bedroom apartments.Residents of the tower will have the use of the exclusive mezzanine-level Beach Club with infinity pool, sauna, steam rooms, gym, yoga rooms, lounge area, private dining room and surfboard storage.Development approval has been secured for the project which is likely to begin construction early in 2017.McGrath Projects is handling the sales and marketing of Northcliffe Residences and has a sales and display suite open daily at 214A Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise. For more information on Northcliffe Residences visit northclifferesidences.com.au.
