Leading construction firm takes out top business award

The Gold Coast-based construction company CONDEV Construction has taken out the leading award at the 25th annual Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards held over the weekend (Sunday 21st November), succeeding against 59 other businesses vying for the award.

CONDEV Construction won the same ‘Business of theYear’ award in 2018 and in the past two years has gone from strength tostrength, also winning the Construction and Trade of the Year award this year.

Established in 2002 by Steve and Tracy Marais, CONDEV has grown to become one of the Gold Coast’slargest construction firms with a current portfolio of 23 projects and a teamof over 120.

Steve Marais, Managing Director of CONDEV Construction, said it was a privilegeto be recognised for its success, something he attributes to the company’s greatculture and team of staff.

“Tracy, the CONDEV team and I are honoured to have receivedthis award which recognises all the hard work our team puts into everything wecreate,” said Mr Marais.

CONDEV Construction has a number of projects across the residential,commercial and aged care sectors throughout South East Queensland.

In CONDEV’s 18-year history the company has beenappointed to deliver a range of high-end projects across the Gold Coast, withrecent completed projects including the Rydges hotel at the Gold Coast airport andSunland Group’s Magnoli development at Palm Beach.

CONDEV is currently constructing Spyre Group’s $77million Natura in Burleigh Heads, as well as Cannes - a 17-story high-rise inSurfers Paradise by MarqueeDevelopment Partners. CONDEV is also building the Dreamworld roller coaster andhas an expanding portfolio of projects across Brisbane.   

The company’s charity arm, CONDEV Cares, is also thedriving force behind an initiative that will see the creation of a $1.2 milliontriplex facility in Palm Beach, built to house two young women suffering fromrare, medically demanding illnesses.

CONDEV has rallied the local council andconstruction community to help deliver the two-level apartment project, “Ketra’sHouse”, with a range of consultants including town planners, landscapers, engineers,designers and architects volunteering their services.

While it has been a tough year for many industrieson the Gold Coast, the construction and real estate industries have continuedto flourish.

“We’re in a unique position on the Gold Coast andhave been able to withstand the challanges posed by Covid-19 incredibly well,”said Mr Marais.

“In fact, what we’re seeing is that this year hasbrought many opportunities for us and others in the development community.

“We have a range of exciting projects in thepipeline for 2021 and we look forward to continue to expand within the GoldCoast and South East Queensland.”
