The visionary developer behind luxury Southport landmark

GOLD Coast developer George Mastrocostas, best known for creating striking residential apartment projects, can now lay claim to delivering a stunning new commercial landmark at Southport.Mr Mastrocostas has just put the finishing touches on the new home of luxury marques Bentley and Maserati on the Gold Coast. The $25 million automotive showroom, located on the corner of Ferry Road and Brolga Avenue, was jointly developed with Glen Phillips, the co-founder of listed printing services company CSG Limited.Joint-venture vehicle Ferry Road Investments undertook the development after initially securing a 15-year lease with Brisbane-based Willims Motor Group which sells a range of luxury marques, including Bentley, Maserati, Lamborghini and Lotus.Willims Motor Group has since been acquired by Autosports Group Limited (ASG), an ASX-listed automotive aggregator that is capitalising on the growth of the luxury car market in Australia.“We are so pleased to have secured ASG as a tenant which is fitting for a showroom that we believe will be one of the most spectacular in Australia, and can certainly be benchmarked against others around the world,” said Mr Mastrocostas.“Our vision for this property from the start was to create a striking property to host the world’s premium automotive brands right here on the Gold Coast,” he said.“The local market is one of the strongest in the country for luxury marques, so there should never be a need for Gold Coasters to drive all the way to Brisbane to find the car of their dreams.”“Bentley and Maserati now have a permanent home on the Gold Coast which is where they truly belong.”The 1830sqm facility comprises a fully-contained showroom with a strong interface along busy Ferry Road on the upper ground level, and the convenience of a near-2000sqm lower ground showroom together with a fully equipped service area. The stunning design features full-length glass frontage and curved elements that complement the graceful lines of some of the world’s most sought-after vehicles.Ferry Road Investments bought the 2392sqm corner site for $2.8 million in 2014 and completed construction earlier this year.Autosports Group is currently undertaking a state-of-the art fitout of the premises with plans to open in coming weeks.“We’ve ensured that this project delivers on its vision from start to finish,” Mr Mastrocostas said.“It’s a landmark development for Southport and the Gold Coast, not merely because of the quality of design and inclusions, but because it speaks volumes about the Gold Coast itself,” he said.“It’s a perfect time to have brands such as Bentley and Maserati back on the Gold Coast. The city has matured to the point that these brands are here to stay.”The showroom development builds on Mr Mastrocostas’ passion for creating architectural gems that define the unique Gold Coast lifestyle. It also comes on the heels of his company Aniko Group successfully launching a major apartment project at Labrador. The Three 72 Marine Parade development has struck a chord with lifestyle buyers who have snapped more than 90 per cent of the 108 apartments offered to the market.Mr Mastrocostas, with a background in engineering, has 20 years’ experience in the property industry. In that time, he has created more than 1000 luxurious residences in some of south-east Queensland’s premier addresses.
