Over $50 million in sales on the weekend of launch

A luxury beachfront project launched at the weekend has sold almost 80 per cent of its apartments and achieved more than $50 million in sales in one of the best sales results ever achieved for the launch of a project on the Gold Coast.

Sales staff had to contend with queues of prospective buyers for the launch of Brisbane-based Spyre Group’s $77 million Natura project launched on the Burleigh Heads Esplanade on Saturday.

By Sunday afternoon, only eight of the 33 luxury, three bedroom apartments – priced from $1.85 million – remained for sale in a stunning sales run that confirms Burleigh Heads as one of Australia’s premier beachfront hotspots.

“This has been unbelievable,” said Nick Clydsdale, Director of CBRE Residential Projects Gold Coast, which is marketing the project.

“We have never seen anything like this. We had people queueing up early on Saturday morning to place deposits on apartments.

“By Sunday afternoon we only had eight left with sales well in excess of $50 million.”

Mr Clydsdale, originally from Sydney, said he had never seen such a strong sellout in a lifestyle market.

“This type of sellout or near sellout was relatively common during the boom in the capital markets but I’ve never seen this in a lifestyle market,” he said.

Spyre Group’s launch comes in the midst of an incredible renaissance of Burleigh Heads which has more than $1 billion in development acvitity either planned or underway – including more than $500 million in residential development.

Mr Clydsdale said Natura had tapped into a growing cohort of lifestyle buyers homing in on Burleigh Heads.

“The thing that doesn’t surprise us is that all of these apartments are three bedrooms with no more than two apartments per floor and these are very hard to find in Burleigh Heads,” he said.

“We’ve been well aware of the high demand from interstate and local downsizers for this type of product and Spyre Group has been very keen to get this project into the marketplace as soon as possible.

“Our buyers comprise predominantly local owner occupiers from Burleigh or surrounding Gold Coast suburbs trading up, with around 30 per cent coming from interstate through our existing data base network and who understand the value that this project and location represents.”

Natura will rise 17 levels on a 1,011sqm site located at 112 The Esplanade – the site of a current mid-level apartment project launched by Mimi Macpherson, the sister of Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson some years ago.

The building will be demolished to make way for the new tower and construction is set to begin in 10 weeks.

Natura is Spyre Group’s third Gold Coast project, following on from its $79 million Elysian Broadbeach tower, which is nearing completion, and the $25 million boutique Maya Kirra Beach which is due for completion mid-year.

Apartments will deliver 211sqm of living space, including functional balconies with room for residents to entertain and enjoy the Gold Coast’s iconic outdoor lifestyle.

Among the unique offerings at Natura will be a beachhouse occupying half of level one, with the other half of the level dedicated as a wellness and residential amenity space.

Natura will feature a range of residential amenities that provide a leisurely, healthy and community rich lifestyle. An indoor outdoor pool encompassed in lush green surrounds, a dining area and reflexology pool are among the proposed offerings.

The project will also include a ‘wellness space’ featuring a range of movement and recovery products designed to balance the body and mind.

Natura is designed to replicate the natural surrounds of the Burleigh Heads beachfront with a striking building design to complement the existing skyline.

Mr Clydsdale said Burleigh Heads was now one of Australia’s premium beachfront addresses .

“Yet the pricing when compared to Noosa, Byron, or Sydney beaches makes the value proposition unbelievable.”

Natura has been designed by Brisbane-based architectural firm Bureau Proberts which boasts an award-winning portfolio of residential developments across Australia, Asia and the UAE.

Remaining apartments at Natura will start from $1.85 million.
