The colourful history of one of the Gold Coast’s most recognised buildings – built by Mimi Macpherson – sister of Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson – is about to come to a crashing end.
Demolition teams will today (Monday 13th July) bring out the heavy machinery to demolish the nine-level building built just 17 years ago by Ms Macpherson.
The work will end a colourful chapter in the city’s rich history of high-rise construction and pave the way for the development on the $77 million Natura project, by luxury Brisbane-based development company Spyre Group.
Andrew Malouf, director of Spyre Group, said the development of Natura will usher in a new era for the iconic Burleigh Heads beachfront site.

Spyre Group has commissioned leading Gold Coast-based construction firm CONDEV Construction to undertake the demolition and construction work.
The luxury, 17-level Natura project, which comprises 33 half-floor, three-bedroom apartments, will arise in place of Mimi Macpherson’s iconic building, situated along a prized beachfront site at The Esplanade.
Launched in March this year Natura has witnessed one of the most successful sales displays for a residential project on the Gold Coast, with 80 per cent of apartments sold.
Mr Malouf said Spyre Group had been looking to purchase along The Esplanade for many years before securing the spot where Mimi Macpherson’s building currently stands.
“In selecting this site we knew that its location, combined with what we were planning to create, would strike a chord with the local market and we’ve been very pleased to see this has been the case,” he said.
CONDEV Construction’s demolition of the building began late June with the construction of Natura scheduled to commence in the coming months.
In CONDEV’s 18-year history the company has delivered a range of high-end beachfront projects, including La Vie and Temple along The Esplanade at Palm Beach.

Natura marks the ongoing expansion of Spyre Group’s presence on the Gold Coast, who are currently developing the $79 million Elysian Broadbeach project, and the boutique $25 million Maya at Kirra Beach which are both nearing completion.
Natura will rise 17 levels on a 1,011sqm site located at 112 The Esplanade, in the heart of Burleigh Heads.
The project is located close to the suburb’s vibrant restaurant and lifestyle precinct and the Burleigh Heads National Park.
