Opera to take centre stage at South Brisbane

A $100 million luxury apartment project is set to hit a high note with those seeking an inner-city lifestyle in South Brisbane’s vibrant cultural, dining and leisure precinct.Opera is the first Brisbane development for Melbourne-based developer the Kaias family which assembled a strong Brisbane design team to create classic, timeless urban residences that meet the needs of the local market.Marketing agent Andrew Scriven, of Colliers International, said Opera would tap into South Brisbane’s status as a highly desirable address for CBD workers and young professionals.Mr Scriven said the project was pitched at local owner occupiers wanting to be close to Southbank, the CBD, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and trendy West End.“We are also expecting interest from local and interstate investors keen to tap into a high yield rental area that is sought-after by tenants,” he said.“Apart from being a short walk from the CBD, South Brisbane is the cultural, entertainment and dining epicentre of Brisbane.“It is also serviced by multiple modes of public transport, making it a preferred residential area.“For these reasons South Brisbane is currently the hot spot for residential development and investment in Queensland.”Apartments in Opera will be priced from $375,000.Prominent Brisbane architects Paul Fairweather and Anthony Jemmott have worked in concert with Trish Szonert, of MMO Interiors, to craft the striking 16-level apartment building to rise at 47 Cordelia Street.Opera will feature a stunning street-level entrance leading to ground-floor retail and office space topped by 182 one, two and three-bedroom residences.Residents on the upper levels of Opera will enjoy unobstructed picturesque views of the city, Musgrave Park and west to Mt Coot-tha.Mr Scriven said an advantage of Opera’s launch to the market at this time was the security of view corridors.“The majority of development surrounding Opera is already known, so you can have confidence that the views you buy now will be there for years to come,” he said.Aside from living on the doorstep of Southbank, Opera residents will have onsite leisure facilities including a roof-top pool and entertainment area, all overlooking the Brisbane skyline.Mr Scriven said Opera’s design team had kept the city’s sub-tropical weather in mind by maximising living areas and opening them up to useable balconies.“The apartments are perfectly designed to enjoy the Brisbane climate and soak up the inner city ambience of South Brisbane,” he said.“And as Opera’s pricing demonstrates, good design does not have to cost more.”The Opera sales office is under construction at 47 Cordelia St and will open in late September.
