Privacy Policy

MediaHunt Pty Ltd, ABN 26 116 848 063 is a public relations and communications firm based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, specialising in the property and development sector. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and how you can access or correct your information or make a complaint.
This policy applies to personal information handled through our website [https://www.mediahunt.com.au], our client and media relations work, and our general business operations.
-
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Contact details — name, email address, phone number, business/organisation and job title.
Client and stakeholder information — provided by our clients or their representatives in the course of engagements, including details relevant to media campaigns, releases and project coverage.
Media contact information — names, outlets, and contact details of journalists and media contacts held on our distribution lists, sourced from publicly available media directories, direct introductions, or provided by contacts themselves.
Website usage data — such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and referral source, collected automatically when you visit our website (see Cookies and website analytics below).
Enquiry and correspondence information — anything you send us via our website contact form, email, or phone.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or political opinions) and ask that you do not include this in any correspondence with us unless it is necessary and you have provided it with informed consent.
-
We collect personal information directly from you where practicable — for example, when you contact us, subscribe to a distribution list, or engage us as a client. We may also collect personal information from:
our clients, where they provide contact or project information to us for the purpose of PR services;
publicly available sources, such as media outlet websites and journalist directories, for the purpose of media distribution; and
our website, through cookies and analytics tools (see below).
-
We collect and use personal information to:
provide public relations, media relations and communications services to our clients;
prepare, distribute and track media releases, alerts, clippings and coverage reports;
maintain and manage our media contact and distribution lists;
respond to enquiries and correspondence;
manage our client relationships and internal administration; and
comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
-
We may disclose personal information to:
our clients, where relevant to the services we are providing them (e.g. media coverage relating to their campaign);
media outlets and journalists, where you have provided content or comment for distribution, or where distribution is the purpose of the list you're on;
our service providers who help us operate our business, including cloud storage, email and productivity platforms (currently Dropbox and Google Workspace/Gmail) and AI-assisted admin tools (currently Anthropic's Claude); and
as required or authorised by law.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we use — including Dropbox, Google (Gmail/Workspace) and Anthropic (Claude) — store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Before we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the overseas recipient handles it consistently with the APPs, including through the provider's own privacy and security commitments.
-
From 10 December 2026, new obligations under Australian Privacy Principle 1 require organisations to disclose in their privacy policy where they use a computer program to make, or substantially contribute to, a decision about an individual that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect that person's rights or interests, where personal information is used in that process.
MediaHunt does not currently use automated or AI-based systems to make decisions about individuals that significantly affect their rights or interests. We use AI-assisted tools (such as Claude) internally to support administrative and drafting tasks — for example, preparing media clippings, coverage reports and correspondence — but these tools support our staff's work rather than making decisions about individuals, and are not used to determine eligibility, access to services, or similar outcomes affecting any person.
If this changes, we will update this policy before any such use commences, and will describe the kinds of personal information involved and the kinds of decisions made, in line with our obligations under APP 1.7–1.9.
-
If you receive media releases, alerts or other distributions from us as part of our media contact list, you may ask to be removed from that list at any time by contacting us using the details below. We do not use your information for direct marketing about MediaHunt's own services unless you have separately agreed to that.
-
Our website is created using Squarespace which uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site and to improve its performance. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some features of the site.
-
We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold is accurate, up to date and complete, and to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes Access controls, 2FA for email and CRM logins which hold client information. We use dropbox for secure cloud storage of clients’ data and NDA’s in employment contracts.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law.
-
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period. In some circumstances permitted by law, we may need to refuse a request — if so, we will explain why.
-
If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below so we can try to resolve it directly. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
